FLOODS IN THE SOUTH.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. Although a considerable extent of damage was done by the floods, in no particular instance has it been serious. The Railway Department was able to got pas sengors arid mails through, and on the Dunedin section all repairs had been effected by about 8 p.m. Tno dredges in tho Tuapi ka and \V lip i'. i district suffered somewhat, and the Tamwha and Lawrence’s dredges are practically stranded, flood waters having cut a new ehaime cleai' of tho dredges. Ruth the dredge.-, are expected to he at work again tow,rials the end of this week. In Dunedin the n tiiier cleared in the morning, and only slight showers have fallen since. It turned cold enough for snow, but none foil.
