Meeting was commenced to day in rather unsettled weatoer. There was a satisfactory attendance, including the Governor and Countess of Ranfurly. The sum of X 9095 was put through the totalisator. The results were : Maiden Steeplechase. The I’ullack (Butler) 1, Marine 2, Mastor Model 3. All started. The Puliack was always in a leading posi •ion, and won easily by four lengths. Time 5.8, div. Xu 11s. First Maiden Welter Handicap.—Corporal (Caswell; 1, Croupier 2, bandy 3. Scratched : Muskcrdale, Soultfish, Bobs,

and Ambition. Croupier made most of the running, but failed to stay it our with Corporal, who won by a length. Time 1.401, divs. TO 14a fid and X2 14s fid. GIIKAT NoKTHKHN' StKKI'LKCUASB. IJaytln, H.b, Fergus... ... 1 C uiooiigate, J2 7 ... ... 2 Sudden, O.i(J ... ... ... 3 Scratched : Princess of Thule, Sirdar, Jack o'L tnieni, Light, Cronje. Haydn, who was always well up after

they had run a mile, won very easily by a dozen lengths from Carinougate. Awahuri, the favorite, never occupied a prominent position, and fell four or five furlongs from home. Time 9.1, divs. Xu 4s and XI 5s fid. Maiden Hurdles.—Up to-Dato (Howard) 1, Spalpeen 2, St Gordon 3. All started. Spalpeen made all the running, but wus beaten at the business end by Up-to-Date, who caught him at the last hurdle. Time 3.47, divs. X 3 18s and 19s 6d. Cornwall Handicap.—Durable (George) 4, Putty 2. Scratched : Crusoe, Formula, Numa. Float was always prominent, and won by a length, but was disqualified for crossing, and the race was awarded to Durable. Time 1.55, div. X 5 17s 6d.

Remuera Hurdles.—Lingard (Noble) 1, Lady Bell 2, Battleaxe 3. Scratched: Tresham and Gilnockie. Meteor, Lady Bell and Battleaxe were in the leading places for the greater part of tho distance, but Lingard headed them at the last fonco, arid won by a neck. Time 4.16.4, div. X 29 19s. Ladies’ Bracelet.—Swagsman (Crowther) 1, Hipstono 2, Irish 3. Scratched : Bobs. Irish and Swagsman raced in front all through, and the latter ultimately won by three longths. Time 3,4, divs. £4 15s and £4 Is.
