AND SHIPPING COMPANIES. By Telegraph—Press AssociationCopyright. Received 12.40 a.m., June 2. London, June 1. Mr Bibbey, Chairman of the Pacific Steam Navigation Company, speaking at | Liverpool, said that instead of trying to dictate to shipowners in connection with the employment of Lascars, Australia ought to recognise that it had been better treated by shipowners than any other part of the globe. The Pacific Company would not nndertakc great outlay in future in regard to Australian trade unless assured of a fair return, which had hardly obtained in the past.
