Hough play was indulged in once or twice, and the delinquents were groaned at vigoionsly by the spectators. Uniortunately, Hi-, referee’s attention was engrossed with the flight of the sphere, or the oiienders would have been promptly ordered off the held. Air W. MeCredie controlled the game, and Messrs AW Rees and It. Cole had charge of the line.
JUNIOR MATCH.
OnNo. 2 ground, Huia and Kaili-City met for the second time this season. The first spoil was interesting and evenly contested, the only score being a penalty goal kicked bv T. Sharp, for Huia. Upon the resumption of play the weight and condition of the Huia men became apparent, nnd enabled them to run up a big score, “fee were obtained by T. Sharp Taylor (2), and Osborne. A teature of the play was tho fine place-kicking of T. bharp, who converted all the tries, some from difficult auglos. He also made a tine tun in scoring bis try. The play m the second spell was very fast and open, and a long way ahead of that usually seen on a junior around. Bruce Bennett scored a try for Kaiti-City by fast following up, which Faulknor converted. The game ended in a win for Huia by 23 points (four goals from tries and a penalty goal) to 5 (a goal from a try). For the winners Newton Bastable, Scott, and Kmnimont (of the backs) and Taylor, kema, McCullough, Hi-s, Hall, and Osborne (forwards) played well. For Haiti, Holder kickedexcellently, and Willock, Faulknor, and Bright also did good work among the backs, and all the forwards played up pluckily against heavy odds, two 40 minute spells were played. Mr W. Gibson was referee, and Messrs A. looleand J. Third carried the liue-llags.
