The charges at tlie port will have an important hearing on the subject, and the matter should have immediate attention on the part of the harbor authorities The. point is, can that trade be retained for Gisborne? 'There is reason tu believe that it can he. 'this phase of me subject must interest us ail. and there should he no need to specially recommend it to the Harbor Board, ilie members of which are no doubt fully alive to the need tf doing everything possible to loser the trade of the port.
