DR.* MASON’S STATEMENT.

Tho following statement has been made by Dr J. Mason to the Hon. Sir J. G. Ward regarding the alleged statement re Cook Islands :—“ Re statement alleged to have been made by me concerning Cook Islands appearing in to-day's Times and leader in the Evening Post, I have not expressed aDy opinion nor given anyone authority to use my name in connection with any opinion I may have formed as to the resources of the Islands. I have asked both newspapers to say they have no authority for using my name, and both papers have agreed to my request. There is no foundation for the statement at all, and I have not even seen a reporter.”
