Eeceived 9.00 p.m., June 8. Sydney, June 8. The holiday was generally observed. The weather was bright but very cold. The races resulted : Prince of Wales’ Stakes.—Nothos 1, Tatterdemalion 2, Mechlin 3. Fourteen started. Betting : sto 2 Tatterdemalion, 6to 1 Nothos. A great finish ; won by a head, a neck between second and third, Time, 2.24iJ. Melbourne June 8. The weather was cold and showery. The raciDg resulted : Birthday Handicap.—Florin 1, Gold Bar 2, Rapid Pilgrim 8. Twelve started. Betting : 7 to 2 Nuntchaka and Rapid Pilgrim, 12 to 1 Florin. A fine race from the entrance of the straight ended in a desporate finish, Florin gaining a verdict by half a head, Gold Bar beating Pilgrim by a head for second place. Time, 2.414.
