CHRISTCHURCH NEWS.
LAND SELECTION,
By Telegraph—Press Association, Christchurch, last night. Second-class rural Crown land, to the amount of 8174 acres, in the survey districts of Hawkins and Oxford, between Oxford and Sheffield, was disposed of by ballot to-day. The terms were cash, occupation with right of purchase, or lease in * perpetuity. There were 344 applications, including 129 for a section of 268 acres, with right of purchase. SEDIMENTATION TANK. { J The Christchurch Drainage Board, at a • meeting to-day, carried the following motion :—“ That this Board take the neces- ,! tary steps to procure the passing of a Bill through Parliament authorising the raising by loan of a sum not exceeding \ £IO,OOO, for the purpose of constructing a sedimentation tank, such Bill to include authority to expend a portion of the Christchurch City Loan (authorised by the Christchurch District Drainage Aot of 1875 Amendment Act, 1900) in preparing additional land at the Board's farm for the treatment and reception of sewage.”
