PRESENTATIONS.

Yesterday afternoon a number of employees of the Gisborno Harbor Board assembled at Mr John King’s office to take tho opportunity of bidding him farewell* Mr W. B. Mackie, engineer on the dredge John Townley, referred to the high esteem in which Mr King was held by the men for tho past six years, and on tbeir behalf presented him with a valuable travelling bog and an illuminated address, with thirty-four signatures, which read as follows John King, Esq., Engineer, Gisborne. Dear Sir,-We, the undersigned, employees of the Gisborne Harbor Board, on the occasion of your departure from Gisborne, desire to express our high appreciation of tho services which you have rendered as engineer to the Gisborne Harbor Board, during the past six years, and our deep regret that you aro vacating that position. Your kindly disposition has endeared you to us, and we feel that we are losing an old and true friend. We would ask you to accept the accompanying present as a small token of tho respect and esteem in which you are held by all of us. Wishing you long life and happi-

ness.” Mr King, in responding thanked, them from the bottom of bis heart for their kind consideration. Ho was pleased to say that he had noted the steadiness and attention given by the men to their duties, and also a prominent feature was the respect shown to those who worked in conjunction with thorn Ho hoped that when next lie would take up the cudgels he would meet with as fine a lot of men. A presentation was then made to Mr Charles DeThiorry, by Mr W. Gault, on behalf of his fellcw-workmen, the presentation taking the form of a choice pair of pipes, silver matchbox, and a quantity of tobacco. Mr DeThierry replied feelingly.
