VETERANS’ HOME.
THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL.
(Per Press Association.), Wellington, last night.
A meeting of the Board of the Veterans’ Home wob held this morning, the Governor presiding. Several designs.for a National memorial were submitted. That of Mr Hutchinson, contractor for the building, was accepted. Mr Hutchinson’s offer to present tablets was accepted. The memorial will take the form of a large walnut frame, with handsome mouldings, and will have seven panels. The centre pauel will be double the width of the others, and will contain an inscription. Three panels on oach side will contain the names of all New Zealanders who died in the South African war. The names will oe entered.under their several contingents in alphabetical older, and after them will oe ibe names of New Zealanders who served with other regiments or irregular, corps. ■
