A miner at East Greta, New South Wales, named Joseph Woodlands, met with an unusual accident in the pit. While he was standing on one of the cross timbers in the roof it collapsed, and he fell on to a pick, which penetrated his. thigh to a depth of about 3in. His injuries are, happily, not regarded as seriouis.
