BEATRICE VARTHA CONCERT.
The programme to be presented by the above company on Wednesday next at the Theatre Koval contains a most interesting number of items. Miss Beatrice Vanha’s performance of Beethoven’s “ Sonato ” in F minor, says the critic of the Christchurch Press, is a revelation in pianoforte-playing, which is seldom heard in this country, giving this .talented artist scope for displaying her remarkable ability and wonderful technique. The player throws herself heart and soul into the music as though she is inspired. Iler execution being wonderfully fine, whilst the structure of the composition is loyally observed, and every detail of the work is lovingly developed, being a really magnificent interpretation of Beethoven, which sent the audience into raptures. Miss Edith Gower has a sweet soprano voice, and her rendering of an operatic selection “To Heavenly Beauty,” from Luerezia Borgia, is extremely fine, giving the singer an opportunity of displaying her perfect phrasing, enunciation, and pronunciation.
