TREATMENT OF PASSENGERS BY WESTRALIA.

. 'To the Editor Gisborne Times/ ■ Sib, —I would like to point out, through the columns of your paper, to the officers of the Westralia that passengers should not bo treated as dumb animals or so much cargo that will not be injured by exposure for hours jobbling about on a small boat alongside the big and rude Westralia. I would also like to impress upon the same officers that even if they are weatherworn and in possession of cast iron stomachs, there are some of us who have not had the same opportunities of cultivating those characteristics. Often many of ns have to travel because of illhealth, and it is neither manly nor courteous for the officers to make the passengers, on a cold rough morning—as they uid lasi Saturday morning—go on to the small tender and be kept bobbing about for a solid hour while the tender’s hold.is tilled with luggage and cargo. We have quite enough inconvenience to contend with here in the ship, ping line without the offiears of the Hud-dart-Parker Proprietary making matters worse. I feel annoyed to think of this treatment, as I know of a lady who travelled from the South without suffering from seasickness until siie had been bobbing about on the little boat for about half 1 an hour, and she enjoyed this pleasure for about another half-hour before the tender ! left the big boat to return home. If we I tolerate this treatment there is no wonder that our port gets such a bad name.— £ I am, etc., An Old Identity.
