MUTTON MARKET EXCITED.By Telegraph—Press-Association. Wellington, last night. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London, 2nd.inst: — “.The mutton market is excited, owing to tho importers of River Plate mutton having advanced the prioe a half-penny per lb. “ The average price to day for Canterbury brands is 4Jd pet lb. Dunedin, Southland, and Wellington Meat Export Co. brands 4d, for other North Island brands 8 3-8 d; for River Plate mutton, 3 7 Bd. / •j Thedamb market is steady at quota-tions-dabled last week. P There has been no alteration in the beof markot.since last week. Transactions in batter are very limited. Tho average price of choicost New Zealand .butter *is nominally 93s per cwt. The cheesajmarket is dull. The average price of finest New Zealand cheese to-day is 60s por civt, Canadian 47s to 48s, “ The hemp market is stoady, and tho price well maintained. There has been no alteration in-the cocksfoot seed market since prices were cabled last week,”
