[(Per Press 'Association,)] Christchurch, last night. The course was very holding this morning. Work generally was confined to the outer rim of the course proper. The work done was mostly of the steady order. Windwhistle and Ragabrash ran a mile in 1.53, Ragabrash finishing in front. Huku and Stepdancer did six furlongs in 1.25. Clytie easily beat Narcissus over a mile. Benzoin ran over six furlongs by himself. Gold_ Bangle went at three-quarter pace over the same distance. Comfort, Tradewind and Rags ran six furlongs, Tradewind finishing in front. Kohupapa ran six furlongs in 1.22 J, going freely. Victor 11. and Phaetonitis jumped the hurdles, the former showing to much hotter advantage. Straybird, Haydn, Sultana, and Hipstone were associated over a couple of rounds of big fences, and kept together until the second round, when Haydn struck the sod wail, at the post and rails double, and lost his position. Fergus made a good recovery, and quickly followed the others. Hipstone finished in front, while Haydn made up lost ground and finished just in front of the other two. Haydn pulled up all right, not being injured. Croupier ran seven furlongs in 1.40, pulling up in the last furlong, and showing great brilliancy, over the first part of the journey. Battleaxe and Tupara went once round over schooling hurdles in 1.58£, Tupara showing much improvement. A large number of other horses were out, and were worked.
