This is a record for all similar periods. Mr Soddon’s prize, ofTorod through tho New Zealand Literary and Historical Association for a story of Goldrnining life in New Zealand, has been awarded to Mrs J. Gray, of "Wellington. The second prize, given by an old West Coast miner, was awarded to Mrs E. Gibson, Auckland
