CHARGES OF FORGERY. IV: Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, last night, Frederick Cooper pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence today on two charges of forging an authority to deliver goods, purporting to be signed by A. W. Rutherford, and with forging the signature of A. W. Rutherford to a cheque fon £5.

A BREWER FINED. INVERCARGILL, last night. Mr McCarthy, S.M., gave judgment at Core to-day, in the ease against George Whitingham, brewer, for selling beer within the no-license district of Mataura. Defendant’s license was issued after the passage of the statute authorising the carrying 'of no-license, add his Worship held that it was subject to that contingency. Defendant was convicted, and was fined £5 and costs. INFANTICIDE. HOKITIKA, last night. The body of a newly-born male child was found in the river to-day.
