RAILWAY AGITATION.

(Per Press Association.) Stratford, last night. A largely attended public meeting last night unanimously decided to urge on the Government the necessity of pushing on and completing the, Stratford*Whangamomona railway. Addresses were delivered by Messrs Symes, M.H.R., Cock, Mayor of New Plymouth, and the heads of other Taranaki local bodies. A railway league was formed to further the objects of the meeting, and deputations will interview the Minister of Public Works, pointing out that this railway is essential to the progress of Taranaki, and to ease the hardships of the back-blocks settlers.
