STUD NOTICE.
THE SIRE OF THE SEASON.
In another column it wiil be seen that Mr Gaine Carrington’s handsome blood stallion San Remo, by St. Leger—CLsy, will stand during the present season at Makaraka, San Remo was purchased by Mr G. G. Stead as a yearling for 725g5, and is one of the best bred horses to be found in the colony. The stallion comes from first-class racing stock, as is evidenced by the fact that he is closely related to last year’s winners of three Cups, namely Halberdier, winner of New Zealand Cup, Cruciform, winner of Canterbury Cup, and Siege Gun, winner of Auckland Cup. Halberdier is by Cuirassier, a full brother to San Remo’s dam, and Cruciform is by St. Leger. Siege Gun and the Australian champion Wakeful are also closely related to Mr Carrington’s horse. Last season San Remo proved a sure stock-getter, and those who have thoroughbred mares .for service will do well to make early application.
