King Edward received a magnificent welcome at Vienna, and a most hearty greeting from Emperor Joseph. Ho will reside at Hofburg during his stay. Emperor Joseph, proposing King Ed ward’s health at a banquet given in his honor, said that ho considered the visit a fre3h pledgo of the close and confidential relations of tho two countries, which was all tho firmer owing to the absence of any political interests which might cast a shadow of cloud over them. He thanked King Edward for the many proofs of friendship that he had shown. King Edward, in reciprocating the friendly sentiments, said that the reception he had received at Vienna touched him deeply. He was always in the greatest sympathy with Emperor Joseph and the Imperial Houso of Austria, and his feelings would continuo to be tho warmest. He appointed Joseph Field-Marshal of the British Army. The appointment came as a surprise to all present. Joseph rose, and bowing pressed King Edward’s hand.
