MINING RETURNS, (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. During the past three weeks, the returns from the bullion producing mines of the Auckland goldfields amounted to £70,638, which brings the total output for the present year to £612,302, or £134,029 in excess of the total for the same period of last year. During the past four weeks the Royal Oak Gold Mining Company treated 582 tons of ore for bullion valued at £856. TROUT-FISHING. The Colonial Secretary has advised the Auckland Acclimatisation Society that according to the new fishing regulations the trout-fishing season in Auckland will commence on October Ist, instead of November Ist, as previously. RISE IN PRICE OF MEAT. A meeting of the Auckland and suburban master butchers’ industrial union of employers was held for the purpose of determining upon an amended price-list, which it was decided should come into force on October Ist next. The revised list shows almost all round an advance in prices, which it was considered to be necessary in consequence of the exceedingly high rates at present ruling in the market for fat stock.
