TOLAGO BAY FARMERS’ UNION.
A meeting of the Tolago Bay branch of the Partners’ Union was held at Tolago on th'erSth inst. Present Messrs Halo, Morris, Holder, W. Reeves, Boland, Lockwood, Forsyth, and Somerville (chairman). Re the application of the Karaka branch to support the appointment of a veterinary surgeon for the district at a retaining fee of £IOO a year, it was resolved to adhere to the decision previously como to, namely, that owing to its remoteness this locality could expect but very little attention paid to its requirements in this respeot. The appointment oould not therefore'be supported. Re Ormond horse sale, to be held under the auspices of the Farmers’ Union on 20th Octobor, the Secretary was instructed to post notices and receive applications from thoso desirous of sending horses. It was mentioned at the meeting that Mr C. Noonan had kindly offered to drive down and paddook the horses intended for the Ormond horse sale, and to return to Tolago any horses not sold, free of expense to the owners. Also that a concession os regards commission on the sale of horses belonging to members of the Union had been obtained from one of the business firms. The Provincial Secretary had written urging members to use every effort to make this, the first of a series of sales under the auspices of the Union, a success. Re proposal of Motu branch to * suggest an increase of levy to the Colonial Executive, it was considered that the Executivo was already fully empowered to raise the levy if it deemed an increase necessary. A fuetbor proposal of the Motu branch re registration of boundary fence agreements was referred back to the Provincial Secretary for fuller information on the subject. Mr A. Forsyth moved that the Stock Department be requested to compile a list of all brands and earmarks registered in tho Cook and Waiapu Counties for sale to stock owners. Tbo Secretary was instructed to requost tho Provincial Executive to apply to the Stock Department for same.
