FATAL ACCIDENT.

[By Telegrapn—Press Association.]

Nelson, last night. Word was received from Takaka yesterday that Mr Arthur Gaukrodger had been killed in a trap accident that day, and a young lady named Miss Mead had been seriously injured. The particulars to hand are meagre, but it seems that Mr Gaukrodger was driving a pair tandem, when through the leader coming back the whole turnout, with the horses, was precipitated over a bank with a fall of 60 feet. It is believed that one of the horses kicked Mr Gaukrodger. Mr Gaukrodger was a son of Mr John Gaukrodger. an old and wellknown resident of Foxhill.
