Pms Press ’Association. Wellington, last night. The Agent-General cables under date London 3rd: —“The mutton market continues dull, and prices are nob quite so firm. The average price to-day of Canterbury brands is ,4 l-Bthd to 4-jd ; Dunedin, Southland, and Wellington Meat Export Company, 4d to 4 l-Bthd; other North Island, 4d; ewes, 3£d; River Plate, 3 7-Bthd. Lamb is firmer, the average prioe of Canterbury being 4 7-Bthd, brands other than Canterbury 4 5-86bd, tegs 44d, River Plate 4Jd. Beef iB overstocked and depressed. Average price of hindquarters, New Zealand, 4d, fores 2 5-Bthd. Butter is rather unsettled, on account of the rapid advance of Danish stored. New Zealand is somewhat irregular in quality. Sound is quoted at 100 s per cwt, Danish 118 s, Canadian 98s, Irish 108 s, Siberian 90s, Argentine 975, Cheers is steady. The average price of finest Canadian iB 56s to 565. Hemp closes for the week quiet, but good business has been done. The price of New Zealand hemp, good, fair Wellington grade on spot, is ;632 to £32 10s, October to December shipment, JE3.llOs to JE32. The price of Manilla, fair current grade, on spot, is £36 10s. Cocksfoot is firm, but buyers are not keen to do business. Recent quotations are being maintained. “ The quantity of River Plate mutton landed at ports in the United Kingdom in September was 255,281 carcases, of whioh 24,876 were landed at London, 178,092 at Liverpool, 12,517 at Hull, 25,971 at Newcastle, 3225 at Southampton, and 1600 at Plymouth; lamb, 7454 carcases, of which 999 were landed at London, 5131 at Liverpool, 608 at Hull, and 716 at Newcastle. The quantity of of Argentine butter landed was 69Qcwt at London and Liverpool.
