New Zealand choicest cloth pats, lOfJd Cheese is at 9d, duty paid. The duty is now 10 per cent., instead of 3d per pound. Poultry is in demand, except for turkeys, which are quiet. Prices are stationary.

Messrs ‘Williams and Kettle and the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held their stock sale at tbo Matawhero yards yesterday, when there was a large gathering of buyers. Bidding was brisk, and competition keen, all tho sheep selling well under tho hammer. About 4000 sheep wore yarded, aud 500 head of cattlo. There were also a large number of horses, which brought good prices. Prices ru.ed as follows : - . Sheep : Fat wethers (prime freezers), from 19s to £1 ; lighter weights, 17s to 18s Gd ; Lincoln ewes, £1 ; fat ewes, 15s to 17s 8d ; store ewes, 13s 7d to 16s 3d ; ewes with lambs, 17s to 19s hoggots, 10s to 13s. Horses : Medium hacks, up to £8 ; weeds, from 30s to £4. Tigs : Small stores, 17s. Cattlo : Springing heifers, £6 to £8 ss. Hairy cows, £5 15s to £1 2s 6d ; yearling heifers, £3 to £3 Os.
