The Foreign Meat Trade Association’s Smithtield market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meats, based on actual salos of not less than 100 carcases of mutton or lamb, or 25 carcases of beef, of fair average quality, a 3 follows. These quotations are.not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of shipments now on the markot: — New Zealand sheep: Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, Canterbury, light 481 b to 561 b, 4d; Dunedin and Southland, 561 b to 641 b, 3fd ; North Island, 551 b to 651 b, 3 ja; lambs : Canterbury, hoavy, 361 b to 421 b; 4 15-16 d; Dunedin and Southland 281 b to 421 b, 4 13-16 d ; North Island, 281 b to 421 b, 4 11-16 d; New Zealand beef, 1801 b to 2201 b, ox fores, 2jjd ; Rivor Plato sheep, 3£d; beef, fores 2£d, hinds 3£d.

WELLINGTON, last niglit, ~ The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London, October 31st“ Mutton market continues dull and weak. There is great competition between the different importers of River Plato mutton. The average price to-day of Canterbury brands iB 3j,R, for Dunedin, South and Wellington Meat Export Company’s brands 3Jd, for other North Island brands Bjjd, ewes 3 l-Bd, River Plate 3 1 Bd, Australian 3d. The lamb market is steady. The average price to-day of Canterbury brands is sd, for brands other than Canterbury 4ad to 4Jd, legs 44d. The beef market has suffered a further decline. The average price to-day of hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3jd, fores 2gd, The butter markot is steady. The demand is chiefly for choicest. Sound stored New Zealand is quoted at 102 s, Danish, 120 s, Canadian 100 s, Siberian 925, fArgentino (new) 103 s, Irish 108 s. The oheeso market is quiet, and the tendency is in favor of buyers. Canadian is at 54s to 55s per cwt. The hemp market is dull. Prices for good fair Wellington on spot to-day are £3l per ton, January to March shipments £3O 10s to £3l, Manila hemp fair current grade on spot to-day is quoted at £36, and is steady. There has been no alteration in the cocksfoot market since last week,”
