HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Hospital Trustees was hold yostorday afternoon. There were present Messrs J, W. Nolan (ohairman), Harding, Gray, Joyce, Dewing, Tuohv, Shorratt, Captain Tucker, and Mr Coleman (secretory).

The Cook County Council wrote stating that the following gentlemen had been appointed trustees of the Gisborne Hospital :—Messrs J. W. Nolan, A. Tuohy, W. H. Tucker, O. Gray, and R. Sherratt. The Borough Council wroto stating that Messrs E. P. Joyce and R. Johnston had been appointed to the Board, The Chairman said he was very pleased to see new members on the Board, and more particularly to see old blood come back as new. He hoped that the same intorost would bo takon in hospital affairs as was shown in past years. The treasurer (Mr J. A. Harding) rrported as follows : —Receipts, £572 16s Sd ; disbursements, £lB2 3s lid ; balance par pass-book, plus cheque not presented £7 12s 3d, £4lO 12s 6d; accounts presented for paymont- less salaries paid, £SB 16s 8d ; Government subsidy accrued, £lO 11s sd; District Board requisition due, £350. Tho Chairman said their finances were in a flourishing condition. Ho questioned whether they would remain in such a substantial position. Mr Harding said they had a lot of expenditure facing them in the immediate future. They had a considerable amount of work to do.

The house report showed that the number remaining from last month was 16, admitted since 24, discharged 17, died 7, remaining at date 16. The Visiting Committee, Messrs Harding and Dewing, reported that everything was working satisfactorily at tho hospital. There was a very small number of patients in the institution at present. No typhoid cases has come in yet. Accounts amounting to £SB 16s 8d were presented and passed for payment. Mr Sherratt asked if a person could gain admission to the hospital who could afford to pay for a doctor. The Chairman said there was no distinction of classes, but the patient would be attended by tho hospital surgeon. In the case of the hospital being over-crowdod he would be in favor of sending those who could afford it to private hospitals. Mr Harding ssid that tho trustees had decided that no person could be refused admission, and that tho private ward was available by extra payment. On the motion of Mr Tuohy a unanimous vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring members, Messrs Rees and Kennedy, and it was decided that a letter of thanks be forwarded them for their past services.
