The body was found in a good state of preservation, considering that the interment took place over a hundred years ago. General Porter h3S conducting a search for the body for five years, and at his own expense a force of workmen tunnolled and cross-tunnelled old St. Louis cemetery. Hundreds of • wooden caskets were found, and at last *£bur leaden caskets, tho last of which con- -■ fiainod the body of Paul Jouosi The body was well preserved, being immersed in alcohol and swathed in bandages. Those present were struck with the ro3emblanco the head to tho medallions on the bust c£ the Admiral. The coffin was takon to ; ' She Medical school, whore identification ct7ss completed. The organs were so pre- > that it was even possible to take autoposy, determining the cause of death, whioh was as recorded.
