LIQUOR CASE.

A MAORI WOMAN’S BORROWED GLASS.

(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. Walter Halliday, licensee of the Wellington Hotel, was oharged at the Magistrate’s Court to day with having supplied liquor to a Maori woman. The woman stated that she had ordered gingerale, which had not been served, when the police entered the sitting room. A glass of whisky and gingerale she had in her hands at the time belonged to a European who was one of the party. The magistrate, dismissed the case without calling on the defence, but stated that he was glad the had been brought on, as it would bs a warning to others that that kind of thing would not ha allowed. The fault really lay with those who bought tha liquor and supplied it to a native woman, rather than with the publican.
