. London, May 17. Admiral Roshdesfcvensky’s latest meswas received at St, Petersburg via China, This fact ia interpreted at St. Petersburg to indicate that he is proceeding north.
Admiral Biriloff exchanges posts with Admiral Skrydloff at Vladivostok. The battleship Slava is Admiral Biriloff’s only fighting vessel of any value. The departure of his squadron will leave the Baltic Sea at Germany’s mercy, as all Rosbdestvonsky a and Diebogatoff’s vessels Bucviving, if dßfoated or victorious, must remain in the Far East.
Admiral Alexiefl’s influence is paramount with the Czar, who is more than ever resolved to continue the war, even at tbe cost of Russia’s interest in the Balkans.
The steamer Segovia reports passing 42 vessels of the Baltic float on tho 15th off Cape Vacella, Cochin-China. One hundred and fifty junks, deeply laden with supplies, were sighted on the 16tb. off St. John Cape, and are believed to be proceeding to tho Baltic fleet. Tho Japanese captured near tho Pescadores the French eteamer Quanguam, bound from Hongkong to Saigon with ooal, believed to be intended for the Baltic fleet.
