EGG-LAYING.
(Per Press Association.) Blenheim, last night. The third statement of the weekly reI suits of tko New Zoalafid egg-laying comI petition was made known on Saturday night for the two previous weeks.- The reoord was oompilod on the Monday, so that it must bo borne in mind the third week is a short one. Harry Crebor, of Westport (silver wyandott:s), is still leading, his total for the throe weeks being 56 eggs, the details being:—l9 in the first woek, 22 in the sooond, and 15 in the third. F. B. Brooks, of South Australia j (white leghornß), is second with a total of 60, tho details being :—l2 and 18, and 20. Henry Leger, of Levin (white leghorns) is third with a total of 49, Composed of 6 and 22, and 21. In tho fourth position are white leghorns of Mrs Aldridge, of Wairau Bar, with a total of 29, consisting of 10 and I 11, and 8. Fifth are brown leghorns of E. Masted, Blenheim, with 27, made up of 7 I and 12 and 8. Sixth are white leghorns of J. Hodson, Blenheim, with 26, made np of 4 and 8 and 14. Many of the hens were not! well prepared for she event, and in S 8 out of the 100 pens not a single egg was laid.
