At a meeting of the Wellington boxing centre a letter was read from the Now Zealand Association strongly objecting to tho proposal to include an exhibition of professional boxing at tho championship meeting here in July. The centre, however, considered that they had tho right to carry out the meeting in the way they considered best suited in the interest of sport, and decided to ask professionals to give an exhibition of six rounds. Major Chaffey was appointed referee. The South Island Rugby team to play the North Island jon Saturday week at Wellington is as follows :—Fall-back, Gillett (Canterbury) ; three-quarters, Booth (Otago), Harper (Canterbury), and Reid (Southland); five-eights, Deans (Canterbury), Stead (Southland) ; half, Fraser I (Southland) ; forwards, Casey, Johnsnond McDonald (Otago), McVie (Southland), Corbett, Learmont (Wost Coast), Horgan (South Canterbury), and Newton (Canterbury). The body of a man, about 45 years of age, was found floating in the harbor this morning. Deceased, who has not yet been identified, was fully dressed. There were no marks of violence. Later. —The name of the man found in the harbor is David Thompson, a tailor. He was a married man. His wife is supposed to be living in Dunedin.
