RUSSIA’S ASSURANCE AS TO ST. HILDA INCIDENT.
THE OLDHAMA NOT SUNK.

Sir F. Hardingo represented to Count Lsrnsdoril the gravity of tho St. Hilda incident, especially in view of the St..Petersburg’s action in the Red Sea in 1904. Ho asked for reparation, and immediate steps to repetition of tire outrage impossible. Count Lamsdorff, in reply, said that bo had no information. 110 promised to refer tho matter to tho Minister of Marine. His (Count Lamsdorfi’s) assurances given in 1904 to tho British Government still hold good. Tho St Hilda’s was an isolated case, probably duo to a misunderstanding uud tho disorganised naval forces in tho Far East. The Minister of Marine affirms tho Oldharna was not sunk.
