HOSPITAL TRUSTEES
The monthly mooting of the Hospital Trustors was held yesterday afternoon, thoro being present :—Messrs J. W. Nolan (ohairmnn), J. A. Harding, C. Gray, E. P. Joyce, R. Johnston, and the Secretary (Mr T. A. Coleman). Dr. Morrison was also
in attendance. The Treasurer’s (Mr J. A. Harding) report showed : —Receipts : Credit balance from last month £566 11s 9d, patients’
foes £9O 17s, donations £S 2s, District Board requisition £3OO, rent £S 6d, total £973 165,9 d. Disbursements: Accounts passed 23rcl June £32 11s 4d, salaries and wages £97 14s Bd, ehequo book 10s, total £IBO 16s. Balance, £793 0a 9d. Aeoounts
to bo passod for payment, £lO3 Is 7-3. The Inspector General of Schools wrote asking the number of Chinese roooiving hospital treatment or charitable aid during tho yoar. The Secretary stated that he had replied stating that no Chinese had received treatment or aid.
Tbe Matron reported that 22 patients wore remaining at the hospital from lae»t month, 11 had been admitted since, 24 had been discharged, two had died, and thore were remaining at data 23. Dr. Morrison referred to tho necessity in the near future of providing more accommodation, especially in the mole wards. The aneesthotio room was a necessity, and a room should bo erected for • what were termed “ noisy cases.” Ho thought it would also be a groat advantage to have a ward for little children. Tho Chan-man snid tho improvements were required. Ho thought there should be a sub-committee elected to go into the matter, and report at tbo next meeting. Mr Hording thought in time the old building should be replaced. Ho move! tbut a committee bo set up to bring a report and a sketch plan of the necessaary improvements at tho next meeting. It was decided that a committee, consisting of Messrs Joyce, Gray, Johnston, Harding, and tbe Chairman, bo a committee, with Dr. Morrison, to visit the hospital and ascertain what alterations were necessary.
