FATAL ACCIDENT.
A WOMAN’S DEATH.
I l(P*£ Press Association.) I Wellington, last night. At the inquest oonoerning the death of Mrs Ellen Thompson to-day tho ovidenoe showed that she had stepped from a moving train at Wellington station. In falling ! she grasped the stanchion of the next platform, and was saved from going under the wheels by tho prompt action of a porter named G. Cornfoot. The step of the carriage, however, drew both Cornfoot and deoeased under the train, but oloar of the wheels. The jury returned a verdiot of accidental death, and commended Cornfoot for his courage. Mrs Thompson’s baok was broken and she was severely injured.
