tbo crow* Tho scow Moana, whioh is reporlod to have been found bottom upward ou the beaoh at Mokau, with her orow missing, srrivod at Wellington from tho Manning river with u cargo of hardwood on September 11th, and left last Friday week for Mokau, Captain Jonos, who was in oharge, only joined her a short timo ago on no- j oount cf the illness of Osptain Cain. Tho vessel is of 91 tons.
Now Plymouth, last night. Tho scow Mcana wont ashore about a mile no.tb of tho Mokau Heals early this morning, and it is supposed that all hands, sevon or eight in number, have been diowned. The Moana was chartered to take timber from Kelly’s mil), Mokau river, to Sydney. Sho arrived off the river on Sunday evening, aad anchored. A strong wind was blowing, and the people ashore regarded her position as dsngorons. The vessol lies, kool up, on tbo beaoh, I and it is possible the bodies of the orow are I inside the vessel. She will be out open. I The master of tho vessel was Captain I Jones. 1
ONE BODY FOUND. (Per Press Association.) New Plymouth, last night, The latest about the wreok of the Moana is that a search party this morning made a hole in the bow and searobed tho interior of tho hull. There is a great deal of soud ballast aud debris in tho bull. One body olad in a shirt only was found, The mouth of tbo man is olean shaved. Ho is about 6ft high, weighing some fourteen stone. 'One thigh was broken and the body much knocked about.
