" LISTEN TO THE BAND."
(Per Press 'Association.) Wanganui, last night.
Be Press Association message from Blenheim, in which it was slated that Mr ‘Crichton, Wanganui conductor, bad at the reoent band contest given a private judgment in favor of the Blenheim band, Mr Crichton emphatically denies it. As a matter of fact he gave no suoh judgment at all. All ho did wes, as an interested visitor, to carefully watoh the playing of the competing bands, and to inote do"> privately his opinion of their ‘respective performances. Curiously enough, as he Stated at tho smoke concert held at tie conclusion of the contest, his notes showed that be had placed the bands in exactly the same position as the judge, the only difference beieg a Blight variation in the number of marks allotted to the different 'bauds. ■ ' •' iV
