Scotch Inland Revenue Department early j in life, and continued therein till 1862, when ho came to Now Zeoland, and settled in Ghrisiohuroh. Twenty years ago he removed to, Oauaaru,. whore he has I lived ever sinoo. Ho leaves a largo family I of 26 grandobildron and 5 great-grand- I children. His son and namesake is Chief I Postmaster at Timaru.
I News has been reoeived by cable from I Vancouver, 8.C., of tho death there, suddenly, of Mr Thomas Meek, president of Ihe FloarmiUers’ Association, and head of I the firm of J. and T. Meok, flourmillers. He leaves a widow, three sons and three daughters. Deoeased had been- in poor health for some time, and left for Home a few months ago in searoh of health. He was reported to be greatly improved, and on his way home via Canada. Tbe news I of bis death has given a shook to the community.
Dunedin, last night. Wm, Corson, a married mao, hung himself to o rafter Jn MoLtod Bros’ soap and candle works this morning. He had only been taken on in the firm’s employ yesterday.
