The genoral public of j,Gisborne will have an opportunity of hearing tho Rev. Joseph (Mark at His Majesty's 'l'heatre on Friday evening next. Mr Clark is the highly popular and esteemed minister of Ihe Auckland Baptist Tabornaole, a position that he has occupied for tho last eight years as successor to the Rev, Thomas Spurgeon. Prior to his arrival in New Zealand, Mr Clark bold tho pastorate of One of the largest aod most important Baptist Churches in England, with a congregation of over throe thousand, and in relation to pulpit and platform, he was one of tho most prominent and popular figures in the Old Land. In his own denomination, and also in connection with many publio movements, Mr dark is not less popular in New Zealand, and stands in the highest rank of orators in this

oounlry. With a iiao, commanding presence, a genial manner, a raoy humour, and an inexhaustible store of eloquence, be will no doubt captivate the public here as elsewhere, and it is to bo regretted that Mr Clerk’s publio appearance in Gisborne will be limited to ono night only, Fiiday eVeniDg neX;t.
