VERDICT OF NOT GUILTY. .(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. The hearing of the charge against Stott and Bromley of having murdered Ham Sing Tong at Tapanui was concluded today. No evidence was called for the defence. Mr HanloD, iu his address to the jury, said that there were too many presumptions in the case ter m the Crown. He made a strong point of the circumstantial evidence pointing to aooused being as stioog, if not stronger, against one of the Crown witnesses as it was against accused. After over an hour’s retirement, the jury returned to ask whether a verdict of Dot proven was equivalent to not guilty.
