The championship tennis tournament witnessed a great contest between Dunlop, who captained the recent Australasian team to England, and Cuttis in the semifinal. The matoh took three hours to deoide. Curtis won by superb play. His score was 4—6, 11—9, 6—3, 6—4. Dunlop, exhausted with the battle, lost the doubles championship, also. In the singles, Lycett, a New Zealander, was beaten in the semi-final by Heath. The latter plays Curtis for the ohampiouship, In the mixed doubles the New Zealanders. Miss Powdrell and Lycett, qualified for tho play-off.

After a splendid struggle, lasting 2£ hours, Heath beat Curtis, winning the ohampiouship. The score was 4—6, 6—3. 6—4, 6—4.

In the tennis championships ladies’ singles Miss Gyton, aft3r defeasing Miss Powdrell, defeated Miss Wilmot in the final, o—4, 6—l. The gentlemen’s doubles after a ding dong struggle for over three hours was won by Taohell and Lyoett, 3 sets 30 games, to Barnard and Spence’s 2 sdts 28 games. The closeness of the con* test was evidenced by tha fact that Barnard and Hpenco scored 203 to their opponents’ 202 points. The final for the mixed doubles has been postponed until Monday, Lycett being too exnansted for farther play.
