New postal regulations have been gazetted, providing that in future stamps must be placed on tho front or address side of a letter, and upon the right-hand upper-corner of that side. Stamps placed on the back of a letter will be surcharged as insufficiently prepaid. Since the beginning of the present year New Zealand has exported 482,535 ounces of gold, valued at £1,942,914, an increase in value [of £67,430, as compared with tho corresponding period of last year. He seomed to recover after the use of the stomach pump, but later, at the hospital, his condition became critical.
