After a long and victorious tour, in tha oourso of which they successively provod themselves superior to the Soottisb, Irish, and English teams, the New Zealando.-s to-day reoaivad their fiist oheok, sustaining defeat by Wales by throe points to nil. \ The game was finoly oonioated from start to finish, Iho result being greeted tremendous enthusiasm by the .m&rfouO spectators assembled to witness '•-rTiho match. Tho weather was fiuo, and the ground \in good condition. i Wales played a strong sido, inoluding ■such woli-known ployors as Nioholls, Gabe, Ltowollyn, Hodges, and Harding Seven forwards were played, with Pritohard as roving three-quarter. Excepting that Mynott replaoad Sioad, tho New Zealand loam was tho same as met England in the Crystal Palsoo matoh. The first quarter of an hour’s play was greatly in favor of Walee, it being mostly forward work. Once tho forwards suooooded in crossing tho New Zealand line, but tho latter kioked tho ball into dead territory. Oa tho ball being put into play again tho game became more open. Tho Welsh outsides then made a strong attack, Morgan scoring a try after play had been in progress 27 minutes. Winfield took the shot at goal, bat failed to convert.
