Bishop Stuart, who has b9en doing missionary wotk in Persia for some years, arrived from Sydney yesterday. He is well Known in New Zealand, having fortberly been Bishop of Waiapu, which /position he resigned in 1894 to take up work in the mission field. The Rev. R. T. Garden arrived from Sydney yesterday. He is the. bearer of a commission from the Archbishop of Canterbury to inquire into the progrers of the Church in distant parts of the Empire, and generally to prepare subject) for a great conference of representatives of the whole Anglican communion, to be held in England in 1908.
