.(Per Press Aseociaticdo Auckland, last night. The pluoky action of a youDg womaD, who, single handed, was responsible for tbs arrost of a man for mdeceutly exposing himself, was reported to Mr R. N. Dwyer, S.M., tn the Police Court.
■Tames Lonald pleaded guilty to the oharge, and Ssrgemt Hendry stated that yesterday afternoon accused followed.some little girls in Victoria Park. A; young woman noticed the matter; and saw that the man was behaving improperly. She promptly held him with the view to ensuring his arrest, but he struggled violently, and dragged-hcr some distaDoe. When he seemed likely to escape she struck him in the face with some stones, so he was held for twenty minutes,'until Constable Cox came.
The latter gave evidence that a number of men saw the incident, but refused to assist the youDg woman. S:rgeant Hendry said tho young woman deserved a medal.
The Magistrate said the men ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Donald suggested that he would never have oommitted suoh an oSonoe but for his drunken condition, and asked the Magistrate to let him off.
The Magistrate : I certamly shall not; you are entitled to three months’ hard labor,
