Aeked if the relations of the Bailway Commissioners were prejudicial to the Public interest, Mr Fehou said they oaused divided loyalty among the service officers. Many important matters were hung up for weeks, and cost the country thousands' of pounds, ia oables, as the re-' suit of divided opinions oyer the instal' lation of turbineß.
Mr Oliver, recalled, declared that it was neither true nor fair to say that all discourtesy and inharmony between the Commissioner's was due to him. Mr Eddy suffered acutely from the attacks made upon him in Parliament and elsewhere. He leaned tremendously on witness in ail his troubles. He had .no hesitation in saying Mr Eddy would not have been six months in the country if ; witness had not been his colleague. On one oooasion he told wituees he could stand the attacks uo longer, and showed his resignation written out. Witness persuaded him to stand hia ground. The estrangement with arose out of Eddy’s intention to ask for an increased.aalary. It was untrue to say the estrangement lasted six months, and reconciliation was.mede only a few weeks before Eddy's death.

Sydney, Maroh 9. Mr Oliver absolutely deoied a number of Messrs Fehon’s and Kirkoaldie’s statements and inferences. He complained there bad been an absolute conspiracy' against him for a number of years. The greater part of his colleagues’ story was pure fablioation.
