PATEA FATALITIES

(PeF Press Association.) Hawera, last - A drowning fatality occurred aY Patea on Thursday afternoon. Captain Peterson (pilot) and Charles Larsen (assistant) lost their lives. Peterson, Larsen, and a man i named Harry Hansen were takibg soundings at the bar, when a wave upßet the boat. After stroggliog for some'time the boat was twice righted, bat was again capsized. Lasker sank first. Peterson was washed over the boat, and some distanos beyond by another wave, and then tried to make the shore. He did not sucoeed, and sank. Hansen clung to the upturned boat and was rescued. Both deceased were married, with families. Peterson was well known, having been oaptain of boats trading to Patea for many years.. He had been pilot for two years.
