Tbe Department of Industries and Oommeroe has reoeived the following cable message from the H j gh Commissioner, dated LoodoD, September Ist : The mutton market is dull at last quota* tions. The lamb market is week, and forced selling still continues. Canterbury brands are quoted 4ijl and 4Jd. Other than Canterbury lambs is selling at 41di 4j|d, 3gd per lb. The beef market is steady at 3j}3 for bind and forequarters respectively. Choice New Zealand butter is steady at from 112 s to 114 s per ewt, Danish is quiet at 1225. Canadian makes are quoted at Ills per owt. The cheese market is firm, and a good demand is being experienced. Canadian is quoted at 62s per owt. There are no stocks of New Zealand on hand. Tbe hemp market is quiet but steady. G.f.a.q., Wellington, on spot, is quoted at '■ £33 10s to £34 per tOD. The same quotation applies to Oolober-Deoember shipments. Tbe pries for fair current Manila, on spot to day, is £4l 10s per tOD, The cocksfoot seed matket is dull. Bright clean seed, 17lb to tbe bushel, is nominally quoted at 45s per bushel. Tbe wool market is steady, and tbe consumption is large. Current quotations for Bradford tops ate: 86’s low crossbreds, Is 4£d ; 40’s, do., Is 6£d ; 44's, medium, Is 7d ; 50’s, halfbreds, Is lid ; 56's, quar terbreds, 2s o£d ; 60’s, merinos, 2s 3d. The kauri gam market is uDohanged, Auctions will be held during next week.
