COMPENSATION.
AWARD TO WIDOW. PHESS ASSOCIATION Wellington, last m'ght. An unusual ease was before tbs Arbitration Court to-day. This was a olaim for £3OO, brought by Sarah Robinson against the Union Steamship Company on account of the death of her husband, Edward Robicecn, who was burned while attending to fires on the steamer Rotoili, travelling betweon Nelson and Wellington. The accident happened on August 21st of last year. Robinson was attended by a medioal man on arrival at Wellington, and sent to hie home in Auckland. He oamo baok tp Wellington, and died in the district hospital on January 17th from heart diseaso. The issuo between the parties was whether the aeoident was the oaußo of the disease which led to death, The medioal evidence was conflicting, but the Court decided that its weight was in favor of the claim. Judgment was given for the claimant for £3OO, with fifteen guineas costs, witnesses’ expensos and disbursements.
