THE "QUACKS.”
ATTITUDE-OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT. PRESS ASSOCIATION Auckland, last night. An indication of the attitude of tho Health Department in regard to the anti-quaokery movement was sought for by a deputation from the Northern Pharmaoeutioal Association, which waited upon the Hon. G. Fowlde.
Mr Maokay, in expressing a hope that as Mr Hornßby'B Bill had failed to pass, a measure on similar lines would be introduced next year, stated that at the present time a number of men were practically living on the credulity of the pablio, end drugs were being handled apparently without a knowledge of their physiological action.
“I daresay something will be done," said Mr Fowlds, and he pointed out tnat in regard to she advertisements of the people referred to audition-si power had already boon taken by Government in the passing of tho Post Office Amendment Aot. Ho regarded the matter as a difficult one to deal with, and said that care must be taken not to interfere with individual liberty. Mr Maokay said there was no desire to interfere with anybody’s i-berry, bat it was a quesiion of pro’eeiion of the- public.
